Shepherds Bush Yard, Goldhawk Road, W12 8HA
Last night we paid 2015 London Pizza Festival champions Made of Dough a visit to their temporary digs, Shepherds Bush Yard….
And what a delightful evening we had!
The brainchild of three school friends, Made of Dough have set up Residency for eight weeks, at a venue which offers space for ‘restaurant luminaries’ who are looking for additional restaurants sites or just want to trial new concepts.
BUT their residency is almost coming to an end *sob* – so you’ve got until 15th May to get yourselves West in order to get your paws on some of the best-voted pizza in town.
If you follow us on Instagram (which you really should) you’ll know already that pizza is one of our major weaknesses and we eat quite
a bit alot, so we were looking forward to tasting for ourselves Made of Dough’s award-winning Neapolitan pizza.
First things first though, drinks!
With four delicious sounding cocktails to choose from it was a tricky decision but the Pompelmo G&T got our vote. A refreshing yet lip-smackingly bitter take on a classic, the slice of grapefruit really gave it that edge.
Five different pizzas were up for grabs, there were murmurs of ordering the lot but with only four mouths to feed this was dismissed as just plain greedy – so the ever painful process of deciding what to order began…
It really was a hard toss up, especially with the wafts of truffle tempting us from the next door table.
With (false) promises of trading slices amongst us we settled on…
Truffle – portobello mushroom, fior di latte, white alba truffle oil & burrata…
Dangerously indulgent and seriously irresistible – this was a serious crowd pleaser.
The carnivores of the group went with the Chorizo – brindisa chorizo, piquillo peppers, san marzano tomato, fior di latte, basil & extra virgin olive oil.
The colours of the tomato just prove how fantastically fresh the ingredients they use are…
Fantastic little touch of offering inventive dips for some serious dunking!
Olive & anchovy tapenade, Spicy romesco and the Basil aioli sorted us out nicely…
Never really straying from our usual order we stuck to our guns and went with the Serrano – cherry tomatoes, serrano ham, fior di latte, wild rocket & stracciatella!
A classic combination that delivers every time…
Despite the size of the pizzas they were deceivingly filling, plus no crusts were left unfinished maybe due to the urge to smother them in the dips or maybe just because the dough was so god-damn tasty!
Having said that we also managed to pack away a Conchiglia a Nutella!
Not for the non-sweet toothed amongst us, one bite was enough for us but it got devoured within the blink of an eye by the rest of the table. An imaginative pudding which you won’t forget in a hurry.
Do we think they are worthy title holders, i’ve got to say yes! Fresh ingredients, authentic bases with imaginative toppings, Made of Dough you’ve given West London food lovers something to finally get excited about – even if you are skipping off to pastures new in a couple of weeks – so don’t delay book a table TODAY!
